T-Mobile has closed a loophole with its AutoPay system, which may be related to the odd billing texts that customers have been reporting.
Fortunately, the errors are just that; errors. One user made a post showing off one of the earliest instances of the glitch, around the same time the carrier had rolled out the aforementioned fix for AutoPay. The bug shown off by the user was, appropriately enough, related to AutoPay, mentioning a $9,999 discount. Talk about value!
This glitch has apparently progressed to incorrectly telling T-Mobile users they owe money. A lot of it. Bizarrely a very specific amount of $5,389,762.88. Two new posts on Reddit show off the erroneous messages from T-Mobile where the same amount is mentioned as their outstanding dues.
This is a bug, obviously. Users on the threads didn't waste time jumping into making fun of T-Mobile. One user said that the error being a customer-facing glitch speaks volumes about the carrier's current state. A bit harsh but also humorous.

T-Mobile's billing systems aren't feeling too good.
For more tech-savvy customers, these texts are just something to laugh about or share online with the community. You know you don't really owe T-Mobile millions of Dollars, and the bug should be fixed soon enough. Less technologically inclined users, meanwhile, may panic a little.
Realistically speaking, the only negative outcome in this scenario involves T-Mobile's billing systems messing up more, preventing you from paying your bills on time. Some users may get wrongly billed too much or too little, but not enough for them to notice.
Just to be on the safe side, it'd be best to check your last few bills and compare your newest one to spot any funny business. If you get told you owe T-Mobile five million Dollars, visit the carrier's website to make sure there aren't other glitches you might be unaware of.
