AT&T is taking legal action against competitor T-Mobile for customer data breaches, and is attempting to get the latter's new Easy Switch feature blocked temporarily. Easy Switch is a new addition to T-Life, it lets users switch to T-Mobile quickly and easily.
AT&T alleges T-Mobile is breaching user data and storing it on its own servers. The company is accusing T-Mobile of being in violation of its user contract and federal intrusion laws. T-Mobile says AT&T's request for legal intervention is unnecessary.
AT&T is taking measures to block T-Life's AI from scraping user data for the Easy Switch feature. The company says T-Mobile's incursions can result in identity theft and fraud.
With Easy Switch, customers on AT&T, Verizon, or other networks can use T-Life's AI to get recommended T-Mobile plans that would be best for them. T-Mobile's goal with Easy Switch is to let customers on competing carriers switch to T-Mobile in minutes instead of hours.
The feature also gives more power to T-Life, which T-Mobile has been trying its utmost to make the center of all operations. AT&T asked a judge for a temporary restraining order against Easy Switch on December 1, according to a paid report from Law360.

T-Life is fast becoming T-Mobile's base of operations for customers.
Legal action from AT&T against T-Mobile regarding a newly introduced feature is big news in theory. Whether a judge escalates this matter or not is unclear.
Customers are consenting to sharing their user data with T-Life. The judge may rule this is legal, or may claim this is a problem with how the app is developed. If the latter happens, T-Mobile may need to make changes to Easy Switch on T-Life.
The core functions will remain. This legal dispute may slow down switching to T-Mobile for a short time, but will be resolved soon. If you're thinking of switching to T-Mobile, you should do it now before Easy Switch is potentially halted temporarily.
T-Mobile is giving Verizon users discounts, so it's a great time to make the switch. Easy Switch on T-Life is not in any real danger, and business will return to normal for T-Mobile very soon.
