AT&T may be considering dropping a line of smartphones scheduled to release later this year, according to Evan Blass on X. Blass claims at least one U.S. carrier is thinking of dropping Motorola phones, as the company prepares for the launch of the Razr Fold.
The Razr Fold may be priced very competitively, making it an enticing option for U.S. buyers who are considering other folding phones like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Google's Pixel 10 Pro Fold. But AT&T customers may be in for disappointment if Blass's report turns out to be true.
AT&T's move comes when Motorola is trying to win back market share from other brands. Blass has said Motorola's flip phones will be the first to lose AT&T's support. The carrier will then systematically remove the brand's offerings from its catalog.

AT&T's 5G network is your best bet in some areas.
Motorola's attempts to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market will be hindered severely if AT&T stops offering its phones to its customers. The country mainly uses Samsung, Apple, Motorola, and Google phones, and this is a major blow to Motorola's brand presence.
Walk-in customers at AT&T stores won't be aware of Motorola's latest phones, and a drop in the phone maker's market share will result in decreased competition. AT&T customers will also be deprived of a more affordable folding phone if the price estimates are accurate.
If you really want to buy Motorola phones but are using AT&T's network, you may have to consider switching to T-Mobile, Verizon, or an MVNO. Sadly, there is a possibility AT&T's move will set a trend for other carriers and network companies, and Motorola may be forced out of the U.S.
